silly spots

silly spots started with a pretty familiar situation. I was out in the city, trying to figure out where to go next. Not just any bar or restaurant, but something more specific. Maybe a place for a good glass of wine that isn’t too loud, or somewhere to get small plates without it turning into a full dinner, or just a spot that feels right for the mood I was in. I knew the feeling, but I didn’t know how to search for it.

That’s where the idea came from. Most tools expect you to be precise. You type in “wine bar” or “restaurant” and get a list back. But that’s rarely how decisions like this actually work. silly spots shifts the starting point. Instead of forcing clear categories, it focuses on those in-between needs and lets you recognize what fits as you go. It’s less about searching and more about narrowing in on a feeling.

The design follows that thinking. I kept it simple and calm so it doesn’t get in the way. The structure is clear, but the experience leaves room to explore. Small details in how things appear and respond add just enough character to make it feel natural. The goal wasn’t to guide people to the “best” place, but to help them land somewhere that feels right in that moment.
